Episode 5: On Positionality and microaggressions and the Intersection of our identities.
Positionality is the idea that one's personal identities, values, and viewpoints can influence how one perceives the world. Our gender, race, class, and other characteristics of identity are indications of social status rather than fixed attributes. Positions are based on a person's knowledge of things, both material and abstract. As a result, knowledge is the product of a certain viewpoint that reflects specific locations and regions. With host, Ivy, a wife, mom of two twin toddlers, a healthcare provider of over 15 years, a student of social work and public health, an avid crafter and design enthusiast. In this episode,  Ivy delves deep into her Positionality, as she talks about her experience being in an environment as first a majority race then a minority after migrating to the states.
