धन और समृद्धि के देवता कुबेर को अपनी समृद्धि पर बड़ा घमण्ड हो गया। वो अपना वैभव सभी देवताओं को दिखाने के लिए उनको अपने महल में आमंत्रित कर बड़े ही धूमधाम से उनका सत्कार करते। उन्होंने महादेव और पार्वती माता को भी कई बार आमंत्रित किया पर वो कभी कुबेर के महल नहीं पधारे। अंततः कुबेर स्वयं कैलाश जाकर महादेव को रत्न और आभूषण समर्पित करने लगे। महादेव को इन सब सांसारिक वस्तुओं का क्या मोह, परन्तु उन्होंने कुबेर के घमण्ड को जान लिया और उनको सीख सिखाने की सोची।  अगली बार जब कुबेर ने महादेव को आमंत्रित किया तो महादेव ने कहा, “मैं और उमा तो नहीं आयेंगे परन्तु हमारा पुत्र गणेश अवश्य तुम्हारे समारोह में उपस्थित होगा।“ कुबेर ने गणपति को अपने महल में सत्कार के साथ बिठाया और भोजन प्रस्तुत किया। गणपति ने सारा भोजन खाकर और भोजन माँगा। कुबेर ने और भोजन परोसा, गणपति वह भी खा गए पर उन्ही क्षुधा शान्त नहीं हुई। विनायक की भूख शान्त करने के प्रयास में कुबेर का सारा कोश खाली हो गया पर गणपति की भूख अभी भी नहीं मिटी।  कुबेर ने भागकर महादेव और माता पार्वती की शरण ली और गणपति की भूख शान्त करने के लिए प्रार्थना की। कुबेर को सीख मिल चुकी थी, ऐसा सोचकर माता पार्वती ने प्रेम से बनाया हुआ एक मोदक गणपति को दिया, जिसे खाकर तुरंत ही उनकी भूख मिट गयी।  कुबेर को अपनी भूल पता चल गयी और उन्होंने अपने सांसारिक वैभव पर घमण्ड करना छोड़ दिया।  Teaching Kubera a Lesson Once the God of wealth Kubera became very proud of his prosperity. He started throwing lavish parties to host all the Gods, to showcase his wealth. He invited Mahadeva many times, but Mahadev he refused. Kubera started visiting Mahadeva at Kailash and started offering Him jewels and ornaments. Mahadeva was not impressed by such offerings, but he sensed Kubera’s arrogance and decided to teach him a lesson. Next time when Kubera invited Mahadeva for his party, Mahadeva declined the invitation as usual, however he suggested his son Ganesh would visit instead.  Kubera welcomed Ganapati in his lavish abode and offered him food. Ganapati ate whatever Kubera offered, but was still not satisfied, so he asked for more food. Kubera served more food, which was also consumed by Ganapati. Vinayak kept eating whatever Kubera offered and still demanded for more. In the end Kubera ran out of food to serve, but Ganapati was still hungry.  To protect himself from Ganapati’s wrath, Kubera went running to Mahadeva and requested for his help. Knowing that he had learned his lesson, Mahadev suggested that Kuberhe prays to Mata Parvati. Kubera pleaded to Mata Parvati forto help. Mata Parvati went to Kubera’s palace and offered a Modak to Ganapati. Ganapati ate the Modak offered by his mother and was instantly full. अनलासुर अनलासुर यमराज के शरीर से उत्पन्न एक भयानक असुर था जो अपने नेत्रों से भयानक अग्नि की वर्षा कर अपने सामने आने वाली किसी भी वस्तु को भस्म कर सकता था। जब अनलासुर अपनी अग्नि से संसार में विनाश फैलाने लगा तो देवगुरु बृहस्पति के परामर्श पर सभी देवताओं ने गणेशजी की आराधना की।  देवताओं की सहायता करने और इस संसार को विनाश से बचाने के लिए गणपति ने एक छोटे बालक के रूप में प्रकट होकर अनलासुर को ललकारा। अनलासुर ने बालक को भस्म करने का भरसक प्रयास किया पर असफल रहा। अंततः क्रोधित होकर वह बाल गणेश की ओर दौड़ा। जैसे ही वह गणपति के पास आया उन्होंने अपना आकार बढ़ा लिया और अनलासुर को निगल लिया।  अनलासुर को निगलने के कारण गणपति के पेट में भयंकर दाह मचने लगी और सभी देवताओं ने उस अग्नि को शान्त करने के अनेक प्रयास किए। इन्द्र ने ठंडे चन्द्र को गणपति के मस्तक पर विराजमान होकर उनको ठंडक प्रदान करने को कहा। ब्रह्मदेव ने अपनी मानस पुत्रियों सिद्धि और ऋद्धि को पंख द्वारा गणपति को ठंडक देने के लिए समर्पित किया। शिवजी ने एक हजार फन वाले नाग को उनके पेट के चारों ओर लपेटकर उनके अंदर की अग्नि को शान्त करने का प्रयास किया और विष्णु जी ने ठंडे कमल के फूलों से उनका अभिषेक किया। वरुणदेव के शीतल जल की वर्षा की।  इन सभी प्रयासों के असफल हो जाने पर अट्ठासी हजार ऋषियों ने कश्यप ऋषि के नेतृत्व में दूब के इक्कीस तृण उनको समर्पित किए। उस ठंडी घास से गणपति के पेट का दाह शान्त हुआ और तभी से दूब या दूर्वा गणपति को अत्यधिक प्रिय है।  Analasura Analasura was a demon who was born out of Yama and was made of fire. He could burn anything just by looking at themit. When Analasura started destroying the world with his extreme fire emitting eyes, all the Gods became worried and upon Guru Brihaspati’s advice prayed to Ganapati.  Ganapati appeared in the form of a small boy and challenged Analasura. Analasura got angry at the baby Ganesha and tried to burn him too, but because of his small size he could not hit him with his fire. Finally, when the demon charged at Ganesha, he grew in size and swallowed the demon. The demon started causing massive heat inside Ganapati’s stomach. All the Gods tried their best to calm the heat. Indra requested a cool moon to adorn Ganapati, Brahmadev offered his mind born daughters Riddhi and Siddhi to fan around him, Shivaji offered a thousand headed snake to wrap around his stomach, Vishnuji offered lotus flowers and Varuna dev showered him with cold water.  When all these efforts could not calm the heat inside Ganapati, 88000 Rishis led by Kashyap rishi offered Ganapati 21 blades of Bermuda grass each, this eventually calmed the heat making Durva or Doob Ganapati’s favourite.    Learn more about your ad choices. अपने दोनों पुत्रों हिरण्याक्ष और हिरण्यकश्यप के मरने के बाद देवी दिति शोकाकुल हो गयीं और इन्द्र से बदला लेने के लिए उन्होंने अपने पति कश्यप ऋषि को प्रसन्न कर ऐसे पुत्र की कामना की जो इन्द्र का वध कर सके।  दिति का अभिप्राय जानकर इन्द्र वेश बदलकर उनके साथ रहकर उनकी सेवा करने लगे।  एक दिन मौका देखकर इन्द्र देवी दिति के गर्भ में प्रवेश कर गए और उनके गर्भ को अपने वज्र से सात टुकड़ों में काट दिया। इन्द्र के प्रहार से वो रोने लगे तो “मा रुद्, मा रुद्” बोलते हुए इन्द्र ने उन सात टुकड़ों को और सात-सात टुकड़ों में काट दिया। भगवान की कृपा से देवी दिति का गर्भ नष्ट नहीं हुआ अपितु उनको उनचास पुत्र पैदा हुए।  देवी दिति ने जब अपने उनचास पुत्र देखे और उनको इन्द्र के साथ पाया तो इन्द्र से सब सच बताने को कहा। इन्द्र ने सब सच बता दिया और कहा की भगवान विष्णु की कृपा से मेरे प्रयासों के बाद भी आपका गर्भ नष्ट नहीं हुआ। ये सब अब देवता हैं और मेरे साथ स्वर्ग में विराजेंगे।  देवी दिति ने इन्द्र से शत्रुता भूलकर उनको और अपने पुत्रों को आशीर्वाद देकर स्वर्गलोक भेज दिया।  Birth of Maruds After both her sons Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu were killed, devi Diti was overtaken by grief. In order to avenge the death of her sons, she tried to please her husband Kashyap rishi, in order to get a son who would kill Indra. Indra disguised himself and started living with devi Diti and served her.  One day Indra shrunk in size and entered Diti’s womb. He cut the baby growing inside her into 7 pieces. It didn’t kill the baby, in fact there were now 7 babies who started crying. So Indra kept saying, “Ma Rud.. Ma Rud.” and cut them into 7 pieces each. Because of Narayana’s blessings Diti gave birth to 49 babies.  When she saw 49 babies and Indra with them she enquired Indra about this. Indra told her everything honestly and said, these 49 Maruds are gods, and are his brothers, and Gods and would live with him in heaven.  Devi Diti forgave Indra and blessed him and her 49 sons.    Learn more about your ad choices. कश्यप ऋषि की पत्नी देवी अदिति को विवस्वान, अर्यमा, पूषा, त्वष्टा, सविता, भग, धाता, विधाता, वरुण, मित्र, इन्द्र और त्रिविक्रम पुत्र हुए। ये बारह आदित्य कहलाये। इनमें से त्वष्टा का विवाह दैत्यों की छोटी बहन रचना से हुआ, जिनसे उनको दो पुत्र हुए – सन्निवेश और विश्वरूप।  जब देवगुरु बृहस्पति ने इन्द्र से अपमानित होकर देवताओं का परित्याग कर दिया था, तब देवताओं ने विश्वरूप को ही अपना पुरोहित नियुक्त किया था।  दैत्यों के भांजे होने के कारण, विश्वरूप देवताओं के लिए किए गए यज्ञों का आधा ताप दैत्यों को दे देते थे, इससे क्रोधित होकर इन्द्र ने उनका वध कर दिया।  इन्द्र से अपने पुत्र के वध का बदला लेने के लिए त्वष्टा ने यज्ञ से वृत्र को जन्म दिया जो इन्द्र के स्वर्ग का सिंहासन छोड़ने का कारण बना।  Vishwarupa Kashyap rishi’s wife devi Aditi had twelve sons, Vivaswana, Aryama, Pusha, Twashta, Savita, Bhag, Dhata, Vidhata, Varuna, Mitra, Indra and Trivikrama. विवस्वान, अर्यमा, पूषा, त्वष्टा, सविता, भग, धाता, विधाता, वरुण, मित्र, इन्द्र और त्रिविक्रमTogether they are called the twelve Adityas. Twashta was married to rachana, the younger sister of the Daityas, Rachana and they had two sons - Sannivesha and Vishwarupa. सन्निवेश और विश्वरूप When Devguru Brihaspati abandoned the Gods because of an insult by Indra, the Gods decided to appoint Vishwarupa as their preceptor.  Because of histheir relationship with the Daityas, Vishwarupa would allocate half of the punya he earned from the yagyas conducted for the Devtas to the daityas. This angered Indra, the King of Gods, and who in a fit of rage he beheaded Vishwarupa. प्राचीन काल में कान्यकुब्ज नगर में अजामिल नामक एक ब्राह्मण रहता था। अजामिल सब सदाचार भूलकर जुआ और लूटमार करके अपना घर चलाता था।  इस प्रकार दुराचार करते हुए उसका सारा जीवन बीत गया। अजामिल को दस पुत्र हुए, जिनमें सबसे छोटे पुत्र का नाम था “नारायण”। अजामिल को वह बहुत प्रिय था और अजामिल अपना समय उसके साथ खेलने-खिलाने में बिताने लगा।  जब अजामिल का अन्त समय आया तो यम दूत उसे लेने आए। यमदूतों को देखकर अजामिल डर गया और उसने देखा उसका पुत्र नारायण थोड़ी दूर पर खेल रहा था। उसको देखकर अजामिल जोर-जोर से नारायण-नारायण बुलाने लगा।  भगवान विष्णु के पार्षदों ने जब अजामिल के मुँह से अपने स्वामी की पुकार सुनी तो वहाँ पहुँच गए और यमदूतों से उसे छोड़ने के लिए कहा। यमदूत अजामिल को छोड़कर चले गए।  भगवान के पार्षदों और यमदूतों के संवाद को सुनकर अजामिल का चित्त परिवर्तित हो गया और उसे व्यसन त्यागकर हरिद्वार जाकर भगवदभजन में अपना मन लगाया और अन्त में भगवान के पार्षदों के साथ वैकुंठलोक को प्राप्त हुआ।  In the ancient times in the city of Kanyakubja, lived a brahmin named Ajamila. Ajamila had no qualities of a Brahmin, and he instead he spent his time in doing wrong by others. He would rob people or con them to earn a livelihood.  He spent all his life like this. He had ten sons. He loved the youngest one among them the most and named him “Narayana”. He would spend his old age playing with Narayana and would not eat before feeding young Narayana.  When Ajamila’s time came, agents of Yama appeared before him to take him to Mrityuloka. Ajamila got scared and started calling out to his son, Narayana… Narayana.  When agents of Bhagwaan Vishnu heard the sound of Narayana, they rushed there and stopped the Yamadutas from taking him away. Ajamila heard the conversation between the agents of Narayana and Yamadutas. This conversation made him realise his wrong ways. He became a changed man.
