Opening weekend saw them embarrassed in LA by Angel City who put four past a Stars team that barely put up a fight. But in their home opener on a frigid and windy lakefront, the Stars defeated last year’s Shield winners the KC Current 2-1 behind first Stars goals for rookie defender Tessa Dellarose and new striker Jordyn Huitema.
