Details

The Foreclosure Podcast is a weekly show hosted by Bryan Treat aimed at homeowners, tenants or anyone navigating the complexities of foreclosure, mortgage servicing, and related housing challenges. The show’s mission is to bridge a knowledge gap: millions of Americans face eviction or foreclosure and many lack awareness of their rights or fail to understand the options available to them. Each episode pairs Treat—who brings his background in residential real estate since 2012 and media production—with legal experts, mortgage professionals and real-estate practitioners. Together they unpack issues like servicing errors, reverse mortgages, homeowners’ association (HOA) foreclosures, and “zombie” second-mortgages. For example, one recent episode examines how mortgage servicing errors can undermine borrower defense, another dives into how HOAs can foreclose on assessment liens, and another explains reverse mortgages’ pros and cons. The format is practical and action-oriented: each show identifies a discrete problem, then walks listeners through what to look for, what questions to ask, and what next steps to take. The podcast emphasizes document collection, understanding timelines and exploring possible resolutions. Crucially, the podcast includes clear disclaimers: it provides general information only, does not create an attorney-client relationship, and is not a substitute for individualized legal advice. The producers also state a formal Publication Standards & Journalistic Code of Conduct outlining ethics, disclosures and separation of editorial and sponsored content. In short: The Foreclosure Podcast helps listeners become informed participants rather than passive victims in distressed-housing situations, equipping them with knowledge, practical tools and credible expert voices to better navigate foreclosure risk and related housing-legal terrain.Hosted by Bryan Treathttps://orchard.com/agent/bryan-treatDISCLAIMER: The information in this podcast is provided for general informational purposes only and may not reflect the current law in your jurisdiction. The Tiny Home Revolution w/ expert Laura Lynch

The trend toward tiny homes has gained momentum over the past decade as housing costs, environmental concerns, and lifestyle preferences have shifted. With traditional home prices reaching record highs and mortgage rates always in flux, many people are turning to smaller, more affordable living spaces. A typical tiny home—ranging from 150 to 400 square feet—can cost between $50,000 and $150,000 to build or buy, a small fraction of the cost of a standard single-family home. This makes them particularly appealing to first-time buyers, retirees, and those seeking financial freedom without long-term debt.

Beyond affordability, tiny homes offer notable upsides. They are more energy-efficient, require fewer materials to construct, and promote sustainable living through reduced consumption. Maintenance and utility costs are significantly lower, freeing up income for travel, savings, or experiences rather than possessions. Additionally, many tiny homeowners value the flexibility of mobility—especially with towable designs that allow relocation without selling property.

While zoning and financing challenges remain, the tiny home movement reflects a broader cultural shift toward minimalism and intentional living. For many, it’s not just about downsizing space—it’s about upgrading life quality by focusing on simplicity, sustainability, and financial independence. The State of the CFPB w/ attorney Jason Billick

The State of the CFPB w/ attorney Jason Billick

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) was created in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis to protect consumers from unfair, deceptive, or abusive practices in the financial industry. It was established under the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama on July 21, 2010. The Bureau officially opened its doors on July 21, 2011.

The idea for the CFPB was first proposed by Elizabeth Warren, then a Harvard Law professor, who argued that consumers needed a single federal agency to enforce financial protection laws—similar to how the Consumer Product Safety Commission safeguards physical goods. Before the CFPB, oversight was scattered across multiple agencies, allowing predatory lending and opaque credit practices to flourish, particularly in the mortgage market.

The CFPB has been radically undermined by the Trump Administration. Will it return when a Democrat returns to the White House?
