What do we make of the driver shortage or lack there of?  A new study commissioned by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration & conducted by The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) states plainly: The data simply does not support assertions of persistent shortages of drivers. Such assertions, the studied noted are "spurious" and "not likely to be helpful in explaining the sector's turnover patterns & the possible influences of compensation."  

Regulators are learning what truckers already know: the job is not what it used to be.
