Beyond the Megaphone with Cassidy and Nathan

This week on Beyond the Megaphone, Cassidy and Nathan take you through the behind the scenes of what its like to be a Division One Cheerleader at a Power Five Conference in the NCAA. They walk through everything that they do before the game even starts, as well as all of the extra things they do every game that might go unseen or unnoticed to most. On today's episode of Beyond the Megaphone with Cassidy and Nathan, the two take a look as some of the toughest things about being student athletes. Cassidy explains the expectation vs reality of student life as an athlete, before and after the pandemic. Nathan continues as he explains the transition to graduate school as a student athlete, as well as both of them sharing their funniest and craziest stories of this balancing act! Episode 4 will give you a look inside the everyday life of a student athlete and how much focus and determination it takes to excel! 

This week on Beyond the Megaphone: Cassidy and Nathan welcome Miata Walker, a current doctoral student studying Sports Psychology, onto the show to take a deep dive into mental health in athletics. Miata shares a bit about her cheerleading career as a former IU Cheerleader, and how she got interested in her field of study and her new coaching job. The three share stories of when negative self-talk and insecurity have gotten the best of them and explain some of the things they have done to overcome them. This week on Beyond the Megaphone, Cassidy and Nathan discuss the many differences between High School and Collegiate Cheerleading.
