The group had been stockpiling weapons and recently the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives known as the ATF had received a tip regarding illegal weapons on the premises. The ATF would arrive guns blazing… leading to a 51 day stand off, the largest gunfight on US soil since the Civil War, and arguably one of the biggest news stories in the world.
