Description

In September 2012, 46 year old Kim Buckley, her 17 year old daughter Kayleigh Buckley and 6 month old granddaughter Kimberley Buckley all died in a house fire in Cwmbran, in Wales. The fire had been deliberately started by Kayleigh’s controlling and abusive boyfriend – and father of Kimberley - Carl Mills who was later jailed for over 30 years for their murders. Mills groomed Kayleigh when she was just 15 years old and three statutory reports identified multiple failings in the police and social services response to the danger Mills posed. A heartbreaking story of the murder of three generations of a family and the failure of services to protect them.  This is the story of Kim, Kayleigh and Kimberley Buckley.  Information and support  Samaritans UK Contact Us | Samaritans  Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) Home - AAFDA Women’s Aid Home - Women's Aid National Domestic Abuse Helpline UK 0808 2000 247 Mental health support USA Mental Health America | Homepage | Mental Health America Domestic abuse helpline USA 1.800.799.SAFE Domestic Violence Support | National Domestic Violence Hotline    References  Family Annihilation - Hansard - UK Parliament CWMBRAN BLAZE: Family pays tribute to Kim, Kayleigh and Kimberley Buckley | South Wales Argus Killer of three generations of the same family was involved in 45 incidents of violence against his own mother - Wales Online String of tragedies for fire death family - BBC News Serious case review into fire deaths - ITV News Police Professional | Gwent response to fire murders criticisedGwent Police failed Carl Mills murder victims - reports - BBC News Cwmbran fire death family 'likely' to have been saved if killer's history had been properly researched | ITV News Wales Risk to Cwmbran fire death family was not properly understood - ITV News Serious case review criticises social services over Cwmbran Cwmbran fire deaths: Carl Mills jailed at least 30 years for triple murder | Crime | The Guardian Credits  Hosted and created by Clare Laxton @ladylaxton Produced by Clare Laxton Part of W!ZARD Studios @wizradio Music from Tyee Brunt-Clifford Home | TBC.COMPOSER If you’re enjoying the podcast and would like to support its running, please consider buying me a coffee buymeacoffee.com/clarelaxton   See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
