He is also a television drama writer, producer, and showrunner. He codeveloped <em>Bel-Air</em> and worked on <em>The Chi</em>, <em>Animal Kingdom</em>, and <em>Narcos</em>, among other drama series. Newson is a 2025β26 American Library in Paris Visiting Fellow.
