New Mexico Film Spotlight

Join us for a conversation with award-winning journalist and first-time filmmaker, Jenna Naranjo Winters, as she shares the deeply personal and inspiring journey behind her feature-length documentary, "DreamTouch Believe." Jenna dives into the resilience of her father, renowned Santa Clara Pueblo sculptor Michael Naranjo, who continued his artistic career despite losing his sight and the use of his hand during the Vietnam War. She discusses how this story became her life's purpose and a love letter to New Mexico, utilizing locations like Abiquiú and the Sandia Mountains. We explore the intense challenge of transitioning from fast-paced investigative journalism to long-form film production—a decade-long process that taught her the power of networking and overcoming fear. Jenna also details why the film's upcoming screening at the Santa Fe International Film Festival is a dream come true, and shares her advice for emerging filmmakers looking to bring their own stories to life. Jenner also encourages the public to view her father's touchable art exhibits, including pieces at the Nadra Matucci Gallery and the Bataan Memorial Building in downtown Santa Fe. Listen now to hear how a daughter's dedication secured the legacy of an artistic icon. Find more information about the film at: dreamtouchbelieve.com
