During my conversation with SHDC’s bassist/producer (Harry Gregg), lead vocals/keys (Dana Wylie) and drummer (Jamie Cooper), I quote band members on what they had to say about their fellow musicians! “I love this band for a lot of reasons. It’s an amazing creative outlet,” guitarist Kyle Mosiuk stated. “We all write together and everybody in the band is such a killer musician. We have the most amazing vocalist in all of Canada: Dana Wylie is incredible. I’m just proud to be with all these people who push me to be better every time we play. They’re just all my best friends and I love them.” https://ckua.com/read/secondhand-dreamcar-get-ready Heather Kitching of Roots Music Canada wrote, “this funky nine-piece soul-meets-roots band is absolutely smoking.” ** Join the Big Dreamer mailing list - www.secondhanddreamcar.com Get SHDC exclusives plus the latest touring news and more. Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Here is the back half of my conversation with Melbourne's songwriting gem, Dan Brodie! We lead off with the track "I've Been Drinking a Lot" and stories of life with and without alcohol. https://www.danbrodie.com.au/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/0lGWfjqu01dnkb4f70Xnbh https://www.facebook.com/danbrodiemusic/videos/ https://www.instagram.com/dan_j_brodie/ I ask him about some of the earliest Dan Brodie singles ("I'm Floatin' Mamma," "Big Hearted Lovin' Man") - and what place they have in his current setlists. We also talk about his seminal release The Ballad of Cowboy Dan, what the epic title track means to him and how it helped inform the writing this new LP. Dan also talks about the great response Suburban Dreaming has been receiving. He also mentioned the sound effects used on the album and how that is connected to his love of film. "I think because of the sounds and stuff, that lends itself more to my love of film and cinema," he said. "I get drawn into scenes of movies and sound design. I love great sound design. I think that is in a way, as well, a template of what I wanted to do with this record." Thanks for subscribing to the Dan Time Podcast! [email protected]

The Austin-based singer-songwriter checked in to talk about "Her Country Song," his latest duet with Morgan Obenhaus - as well as the forthcoming single, "Don't Make Sense." "Her Country Song" was a step outside the box for Dan. While most of his catalog leans on an Americana/folk-based sound, Dan composed a more traditional county song after being inspired by his own boss' experience with loss. He later presented the song as a complete surprise to her. Tune in to hear this heartwarming story and also Dan's take on how we are united through the power of music.
