At first Sarah claimed this was a terrible accident during a fun date night. After damning video footage was discovered the story changed entirely. This week on the Mothers of all Crimes we tackle a hot topic on social media- Caitlyn from Teen Mom was blocked by her biological child's adoptive parents. So naturally she posted this private family drama all over Insta for us to consume and discuss. We read the infamous posts, give our opinions on this tricky situation and talk about the possible pitfalls in a family impacted by adoption.  This is clearly a scandal and not a crime!  We felt it was an interesting topic and hope you all agree!  Listener discretion is advised. This week on the Mothers of All Crime Podcast the discussion centers on an old case- Waneta Hoyt. For over 20 years Waneta Hoyt was viewed as a mother who endured the worst luck and horrific tragedies. Her five biological children all died before the age of 3 years old. Waneta and Tim lost child after child due to suspected Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The couple went on to have an unsuccessful (to say the least) adoption followed by a successful one. While there may have been family members and acquaintances with suspicions there were no police investigations for 20 years following her youngest child's demise. After an expert witness specializing in child abuse told a New York DA about a possible serial killer in his midst he began searching for more information. This would ultimately lead to an interrogation, confession and a 75 year sentence. Until her death Waneta maintained that her confession was coerced. This week on the Mothers of All Crime we are chatting about Diane Downs. She rose to public attention after claiming a "shaggy haired stranger" shot her and her 3 young children. Hospital staff, witnesses and the police noted that she didn't seem upset and her behavior wasn't very motherly. A trial by media began as all of Diane's sordid secrets were revealed. Eventually a real criminal trial would ensue. Diane was 9 months pregnant when she was given a life sentence (with possibility of parole). There are some uplifting parts in this dark story with the surviving children. We also have a bit of a chuckle reviewing Mrs. Down's many attempts at parole.
