Nicnac Podcast Season 18 Ep 3: A Last Ditch Effort
In this episode, Nicnac talks about and reads some of their recent writing. This includes a letter to the State Governors, the Prime Minister of Canada, and some other writings.Should you want to reuse these letters, please feel free to do so. They are included belowRaindrop Rhapsody by Option 42. Used with the artist's permission. The Fools Guide By Antony Rotunno. Used with the artist's permission.  Dear Governors,I am writing to express my fears about the Federal Government's poor choices and their devastating effects on our States. The Trump Administration has repeatedly violated the Federal Constitution, ignored judicial rulings, and Congress.  The Trump Administration has also systematically attacked the fragile social safety net that I and others like me rely on for survival. I have no faith that this approach will change. Nor do I have any faith that Congress will impeach and imprison any member of this horrific administration. Finally, I have no faith that Congress will reverse the drastic policies put in place by the barbaric Trump AdministrationThis being the case, I think it's long past time for The States to give the Federal Government an ultimatum; Either give us the funds and services we are entitled to, or we are leaving the union! This may seem extreme and foolhardy, but I see no other option. Obviously, our States can't meet the needs of residents on their own. But maybe if we worked with Canada, other states, and any other interested parties, there may be hope.No matter what you decide, please remember and consider the many poor, disabled transgender and otherwise vulnerable people that live in our States. As a part of this vulnerable population, I am asking for your protection. We are under direct threat from the Federal government. We need housing, medical care, mental health services, and in some cases, much more. We need these vital services now!It is your duty to protect all residents of your state. Please seriously consider this proposal.Sincerely,Nicnac MarshDear Prime Minister Carney,I am a disabled, neurodivergent, and transgender person living in the USA.Although I am a citizen of the United States, I feel unsafe and scared by the rapidly unraveling state of my country. In a last-ditch effort to turn things around, I've sent messages to every State Governor I thought might be open to the idea, requesting that they issue an ultimatum to the US Federal Government along the lines of "Either give us the funds and services we are entitled to, or we are leaving the union!"I sincerely doubt this will be effective, but it seemed like a good step given the Trump Administration's inhuman,  unconstitutional conduct and policy. The US Congress does nothing to effectively combat or control this crisis. The lower courts get ignored, and the Supreme Court is under the Trump Administration's control. So, I feel compelled to seek assistance of any kind from Canada. Please, hear this request and consider it. All across the US, vulnerable people like myself are living in terror. We fear law enforcement breaking down our doors. We fear the lack of due process. We fear dying in a concentration camp or a mental institution. We fear dying in the streets because the Federal Government is too callous to properly house, feed, or provide medical services to us. We fear speaking our minds. We fear being targeted because we are different and vulnerable. Please help us! Do whatever you can. Open your borders to more US refugees. Engage in more diplomacy that helps end Trump's reign of terror. Work with your allies to liberate us.  Help support and protect former US States if they seek independence.Canada seems to be the new leader of the free world. Please step up to help! Take the tired, poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Lift whatever you've got by your borders. Thanks for your time and service. May the free world survive this.Sincerely,Nicnac Marsh

Nicnac Podcast Season 18 Ep 2: Fixing a Shithole
In this episode, Nicnac talks about the ever-decaying state of democracy and wonders if it was ever really a thing to begin with. They also talk about Star Trek and how they interpret its implications for the human condition. They include a recent letter they wrote to their reps about the state of the United States, and end by begging for change in the US or a safe retirement for them and their spouse in a truly just and equitable society. If you choose to write to your reps, a copy of Nicnac's letter is included below:Raindrop Rhapsody by Option 42. Used with the artist's permission. The Fools Guide By Antony Rotunno. Used with the artist's permission. Dear Congress,I am writing to express my continued distress at the state of our country.ICE continues to illegally kidnap people and put them in concentration camps. The illegal war of choice with Iran continues unabated. Wasting billions a day and killing and injuring untold numbers of people on both sides. In the meantime, The FCC is threatening the press and violating the First Amendment. All the while, the Trump Administration is just sitting around laughing as they get away with mass murder and pedophilia. This needs to end! Now!I beg you to impeach and imprison every member of the Administration that has contributed to this catastrophic failure. I would also like to repeat my request for an expanded and functional social safety net.I want a $2,000 a month universal basic income for every person in this country. It should require no paperwork and be subject to an annual cost-of-living adjustment. I want universal healthcare for every person in this country. This needs to include coverage for at least 1 hour of mental health treatment a week as well as vision, hearing, and dental. It also needs to cover reproductive and transgender care. Finally, every person in this country deserves safe, accessible housing in the local of their choosing. Again, no strings attached. No paperwork. Just housing for everyone! These are the things actually needed in this country. A country that fails to provide for the needs of its residents is worthless. I don't want to live in a worthless country anymore! Please do everything you can to remedy these catastrophic circumstances.Sincerely,Nicnac Marsh
