A Yin & Yang Color Story…

Today, I’m reporting on The Chanel Spring & Summer 2025 Collection and doing a side by side of my personal wardrobe collection inspired by the Chanel color story. I have included a video showcasing 12 key looks from their collection and mine. The video showcasing all the fashion is embedded in the newsletter here on substack as well as my new YouTube channel for Where Feng Shui Meets Fashion. I hope you enjoy this new approach and I welcome your feedback and comments!

This stunning collection led with a Black & White color story and included a giant Open Birdcage that the models walked around alluding to their freedom to truly fly!

From a Feng Shui perspective it had a Yin & Yang elemental pairing of Water and Metal elements with some fiery accents. These are complimentary elements! Black represents Water which symbolizes freedom and creativity an energy that flows. White represents metal which is pristine elegant and traditional. Think old money vibes. It elevates. Paired with water, metal gives water a safe elegant container from which to create! The visual story was Metaphorically highlighted with a giant open Birdcage. I really appreciated the symbolism and aesthetic of the collection which also incorporated feathers. Feathers represent animal or fire energy in Feng Shui adding excitement and drama to the collection!

While my interpretation of the collection does not include feathers it culminates with a leather biker jacket at the end which is animal or fire energy and alludes to a hint of rebellion and freedom preceded by a number of more conservative looks.

The Chanel show featured Riley Keough, the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and granddaughter of Elvis poignantly singing Princes’s “When Doves Cry” as the models circled the giant Birdcage and runway. It was a powerful and beautiful show.

Let’s look at the video I put together highlighting my favorite looks shall we?! I am going to share my screen…

Look how beautiful and aspirational these ensembles are! And here’s my Chanel inspired collection…

Chanel was originally inspired by mens wear and was known for her feminine suiting and the “lbd” or little black dress.

As shown in video, I introduced black Blazers cropped and oversized into my collection with most of my outfits, to give my looks structure and some formality. Something that was missing from my wardrobe until recently. A great black blazer or jacket is versatile and classic. I had all these looks that needed completion and something to elevate them so I finally invested in both a cropped black blazer and an oversized one along with an edgy black leather motorcycle jacket shown as my final look! Taking me from business meeting to date night. The leather jacket is my informal late night option for introducing fire into the equation… I believe it’s our jackets that inform where we are going and how we will be received. Are we formal or casual, fitted or loose, long or short, traditional or edgy? Jackets complete our looks and provide structure to our outfits. For me this was a main ingredient missing from my closet until recently. I finally feel “Put Together”. What’s missing in your wardrobe?

White French Connection Corset Dress & cropped black Anne Taylor Loft Blazer both purchased 2nd hand via Poshmark

While I don’t own any Chanel, I have obviously been channeling the vibe! I aspire to their aesthetic which I would describe as Metal energy. While the collection included plenty of water and sparks of fire, the overarching theme of the brand is metal. We apply a number of different fashion criteria to each of the Feng Shui elements and archetypes. White is the color most closely associated with the Metal element however many other factors apply. Metal is expensive, elegant, structured, luxurious, traditional and pristine. All these terms define metal fashion and Chanel. It’s aspirational and even if you aren’t wearing Chanel you can Channel the aesthetic just like I have here!

Most of my recent purchases shown were made at a great value via Poshmark. I hope you are inspired to channel whatever aesthetic you’re inspired by without feeling pressured to spend beyond your means. You can shop green and still dress metal! All right folks many blessings and Ciao for now!

Thanks for reading Laura’s Substack ~ Where Feng Shui Meets Fashion!!
