Like many who have lived through the nightmare of parental alienation, I thought I knew all there was to know after experiencing it with my husband. But as I began speaking with child advocates, counselors, social workers, and other professionals, I realized that simply living through it didn’t mean I fully understood it. I wasn’t connecting the dots for them, and if I wanted to make a real impact, I knew I needed to bridge that gap. This realization led me to dive deep into evidence-based research. Now, I’m passionate about combing through books, journal articles and other resources to uncover key insights that can make a difference for those going through this.Through this podcast, I aim to break down the most important findings and present them in a way that resonates with you. My goal is not only to give you information that sticks but also to provide practical tools to help you along your journey.Join me as I confront the psychological abuse of Parental Alienation with an evidence-based approach, delivering expert insights and actionable strategies to understand, navigate, and cope with its harmful impact. The information shared in this podcast is drawn from my YouTube videos.
Indiana Court of Appeals

Marianne Lawrence Hanson (Alienator) vs. Edward Joseph Spolnik (Target Parent)

August 29, 1995

Join me as I explore this precedential 1995 custody case at the Indiana Court of Appeals. In this appeal, Marianne Lawrence Hanson (mother) challenges a decision that granted sole legal & physical custody of her 4-year-old daughter to Edward Joseph Spolnik, Jr. (father) largely due to her relentless use of parental alienation tactics.

In this analysis, we examine Dr. Richard Lawlor's expert testimony as a child psychologist, revealing the deep psychological impact of these alienation tactics on the child and the extent to which Marianne attempted to sever the father-daughter bond. Hear direct quotes from Marianne which reveal an angry narcissist intent on destruction.

Key legal issues include whether a "substantial change in circumstances" warranted the custody modification, the fairness of Marianne’s visitation restrictions, her responsibility for Edward’s attorney fees, and her contempt ruling for breaching a restraining order. Discover how child psychology insights shaped this custody ruling and how this court weighed the best interests of the child in this complex alienation case.

---

“Hanson v.
