<p>Welcome to season two of Deadly Industry: Challenging Big Tobacco, the podcast where we explore the tactics used by the tobacco industry as it pursues profit over health.</p><br><p>Leslie Rae Ferat and Dr Allen Gallagher join Louis in episode 6 to speak in-depth on the WHO’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control’s Conference of the Parties (COP) and Meeting of the Parties (MOP). They discuss what actually happens at these international treaty-signing events, the role played by civil society, how Big Tobacco tries to interfere and what might be on the agenda at the next COP and MOP in November 2025.</p><br><p><a href="https://ncdalliance.org/leslie-rae-ferat" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Leslie Rae Ferat</a> is Executive Director of the Global Alliance for Tobacco Control (formerly Framework Convention Alliance for Tobacco Control), a global network of civil society organisations working towards a world-free from the health, social and economic consequences of tobacco and tobacco use. She is currently President of the NCD Alliance, a member of the WCTC Content Committee and the WHO Civil Society Working Group on NCDs.</p><br><p><a href="https://researchportal.bath.ac.uk/en/persons/allen-gallagher" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dr Allen Gallagher</a> is Co-Director of the Tobacco Control Research Group (TCRG) at the University of Bath.
