<p>Viswamitra brought <strong>Ram</strong> and <strong>Lakshman</strong> to <strong>King Janak's</strong> palace to see the <strong>divine bow of Shiva</strong>. Janak declared that only the man who could string the bow would marry his daughter, <strong>Sita</strong>. Ram effortlessly lifted and then <strong>shattered the mighty bow</strong> while trying to string it. Ram married Sita, and his brothers <strong>Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna</strong> married <strong>Urmila, Mandavi, and Shrutakirti</strong>, respectively.
