<p>Timothy Snyder is a leading historian of Eastern Europe, the Holocaust, and political conflict, and the author of more than a dozen books, including <em>Bloodlands</em>, <em>Black Earth</em>, <em>On Tyranny</em>, and, most recently, <em>Unfreedom</em>.
