Rabbi Jon Adlon starts our "Saints and Sinners" year-long series teaching on the transition from the Temple to the Rabbis. Rabbi Adlon is retired from Temple Israel in Canton, Ohio. As we kickoff our congregation’s bicentennial, we are also going to be holding a year-long course entitled, “Saints and Sinners,” which will progress through church history and focus on a particular person or group of people. At the end of the year, we will focus on the saints of our church and share our own stories. Our prayer is that, as we consider Church history and those saints who have gone before, we might be inspired and challenged in our faith journeys.Mark your calendar now for Sundays at 9:15 AM in Westminster Hall.

Monday, May 11, 2020 - 4:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.Please join Rabbi Spitzer and Pastor Wallace for an Interfaith Zoom Lecture on “HaOlam Haba, The World To Come, the Afterlife…Theologies, Speculations and Traditions.” Our interfaith gatherings involving Temple Israel, Christ Presbyterian Church and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church have been wonderful gatherings for intellectual and spiritual growth. We hope that they fulfill an interest, a need and a desire to be together in our community.

So, we are scheduling a follow-up section. This coming Monday, May 4th at 4:00 p.m.. Pastor Wallace will put a finer point on the Christian understanding of Martyrdom. Rabbi Spitzer will respond. Muskingham Valley General Presbeter Matthew Skolnik leads the class in a discussion of the The New Community in Christ. The Westminster Hall class this year will be devoted to asking the questions of faith, as we seek to understand God. Our primary guide throughout our class will be Faith Seeking Understanding: An Introduction to Christian Theology, by Dr. Daniel L. Migliore. We will not be providing any books to the class, and while reading it is not required, it could provide helpful on this year-long journey as we plumb the depths of God together. The class starts with Dr. TC Ham from Malone. Later, we look forward to hosting our local Rabbis, Dr. Keith Lloyd, and even more teachers. Bring an open mind and all your questions, as together we question and seek after God
