There are many different paths to voice acting. For Kelly Baskin, that path was....throat scars! But what started as a potential career on Broadway has become one tucked away in vocal booths and anime conventions. Which is good, because Broadway conventions sound expensive.

<a href="http://www.jordanhunterjones.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jordan Hunter Jones</a> flipped the script almost literally when he switched from ad man to man from the ads (aka business guy to talking guy) and has since been all over the world of commercials, video games and more. Iona Morris's actor father tried to dissuade her from a life of acting, but it clearly was not a lesson she listened to. Starting out in VO at a <a href="https://youtu.be/IXkMInOgZk4?t=202" target="_blank" rel="noopener">young age</a>, Iona went on to be one of the earliest voices in anime's debut in America, starring in roles in Robotech, Lupin The 3rd and Barefoot Gen in the early 1980s. But it was as Storm in the original X-Men Animated Series that lodged her firmly in the world of pop culture geekdom, and later roles in animation and video games would see her continue to work to this day. 
 
Iona talks with Evan about the early days in "Japanimation", being a black woman in VO over the course of nearly 50 years, and why direction and one-person plays are so appealing to her now. She also answers a question from <a href="http://www.fancypantsgangsters.com/shows/ep-141-david-bateson-part-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David Bateson</a> and explains how her unique geekiness plays into her voice career.
