The subject of the traffic stop was an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, DHS said.A DHS spokesperson said the subject of the traffic stop tried to run away from law enforcement before agents caught up with him, and a struggle ensued.During the struggle, two people came out of a nearby apartment and hit the law enforcement agent with a snow shovel and broom handle, according to DHS officials.The initial man involved in the traffic stop then got away from federal law enforcement and allegedly began hitting the agent, a DHS spokesperson said.The agent then fired his weapon and hit the man in the leg.
