What a year it’s been (or, in reality, hasn’t been – since we’ve been in lockdown or restricted for pretty much all of it). Missing family, missing out on a holiday in a warm country, missing being in the office and seeing my workmates, missing the distinction between a home and a workplace or indeed regretting the blurring between work and a personal life. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, now we’re missing out on the crumbs of family connection we were originally promised for 5 days over the Christmas period. Instead, it’s yet another lockdown and tighter restrictions. So, what better time to grab a beverage of your choice, put your feet up and listen to some great new music (and the TFL round-robin round up of my life since May?) Then throw in a running accident at the start of the year just as you’re thinking about getting back into the podcast fray, and you can kiss goodbye to another few months of your life. And then there’s Covid-19 and the lockdown. 2020 – the year that just keeps on giving and taking away. Still, here I am – dipping my toes back into the podcasting waters (and finding out just how little I could remember about how to do it). And with that, an apology for the vocal quality – when I recorded the “TFL number…” vocal, my setup was my podcasting mic via my audio interface into my new iPad Pro. However, when I recorded the main chat vocal a short time later, it appears that the internal iPad mics were used (although I was still hearing the output on my headphones via the interface as I recorded so it all sounded fine). I’ve tried to clean it up and EQ/ compress it to make it sound better – but there’s an obvious change to the usual quality. I hope it doesn’t spoil things too much for you. This was just a trial show to try and get me back into the swing of things, so hopefully I’ll get it right once I’m back in the groove!. Rising from a state of suspended animation entered in 2017, and now waking up, blinking, into the futuristic light of 2019, it’s the return of the podcast that you all thought had died! Yes, here I am again to play some rather fine music and babble on a little between tracks – the same as I did in the good old days, but now just a few years further on. Forgive the rather rusty nature of the show – it has been quite some time and I’m just a little bit out of practice (evidenced by forgetting to mention what the last track played was or who it was by). In fact, the show runs to 50 minutes – which I only discovered as I was editing it last night – so it’s almost twice the usual length. There are more tracks played in this episode, and I did ramble on a little longer than I’d thought I had between them; then again, there’s a lot to catch up on!
