Robin: Everyone Loves the Drake Podcast

In this episode, Rob and Jay discuss the 1996 mega-crossover event at DC Comics, The Final Night. They discuss the entire event through the lenses of one issue, Robin #35. Gotham City has been covered in darkness and miles of snow like the rest of the world. While Batman, the rest of the Justice League, and others are trying to save the world, Tim has returned to protect Gotham one final night. Spoiler helps Robin in one last heroic night. If the cold and snow don’t kill them, the chain swap might!

In this episode, we come to the conclusion of our Robin/Superboy event with the second book of WF3: World’s Finest Three. We also see the return of Terence O’Neil to the show. He joins Jay and Rob in discussing the conclusion of the series and he gives his thoughts on book one.

Tim is off to Hawaii to try and rescue his new friend Superboy from the clutches of Poison Ivy. Metallo is after the boy wonder because he knows that Robin has the Kryptonite ring and he wants it to destroy Superman. What will he transform into this time? Time to find out. The Drake is back!

It’s been the better part of FOUR MONTHS since our last episode. First off, thank you all for sticking with us as we have been around for almost nine years. I guess it was time for a much-needed pause. Sorry we kept you waiting but we are BACK BABY! This is an oversized episode to make up for our absence!

Episode 135 kicks off in a big way. First off we’d like to welcome on board a new voice to the show. Mr. Jay Yaws! He will be joining Terence, Ryan, and me on the show going forward. Ironically Terence and Ryan were unable to join us on this episode, so Jay is here to help keep the show rolling. Jay and Rob discuss the first book in a two-part series, the long waited WF3: World’s Finest Three!

This is the first meeting of these two heroes the dominated the nineties and a friendship that has become a fan favorite! With Batman and Superman busy with other missions, Gotham City is under siege from Metallo. A Metropolis villain in Gotham? Robin must work fast if he is to save his city. This looks like it’s a job for… Superboy? This is the story of how Robin and Superboy became best friends and the lengths they would go for each other. It all starts here as we are back!

It’s been too long, but we are BACK! We manage to take two done-in-one stories with Robin #34 and Detective Comics #704 and make it a ninety-minute show. These two issues reset the stage after Batman: Legacy for our heroes that feel like they could be part of Batman: The Animated Series, and that’s a great thing! We hope you have as great of a time listening as we did talking about this. So dig out your long boxes and let’s got back to some classic Tim Drake goodness from 1996 and have some fun with two single-issue stories.

It has taken seven months to complete our journey of Batman: Legacy, but in typical Everyone Loves the Drake fashion, there have been a few detours along the way. After beginning eleven episodes ago, we come to the fifth and final part of Batman: Legacy. Terence, Ryan, and Rob are here to discuss Robin #33, Detective Comics #702, and Batman: Bane #1. The trio discusses how the final three issues wrap up the entire arc including its part of the Contagion event. How does the story feel more real now than back in 1996? Batman: Legacy ends now!
