The Dear Mattie Show is an advice podcast with a lil' bit of humor, a lot of heart, and a helping hand. Each week host Matt Marr, clinical therapist and comic, answers emails sent by listeners who need advice on love, sex, or any life lesson. To help Matt in his quest to make your life easier, he usually enlists a guest host-often a neighbor, a colleague, or the cute guy he keeps seeing at the dog park. DMS 139: Emily Pereira and Being OK with Being a Beginner
Life coach, radiant woman, Mom, and badass surfer Emily Pereira is doing what we all want to do--leave our lives and live on the beach! Sounds impossible right? Emily thought so too and I love that in this show she breaks down how you can do it.  Now I could leave you Emily Pereira's bio here y'all..but honestly, her story is better heard from you. So many women I know, I have no idea of what they want their life to be and when they get all the "things" they still find themselves horribly unhappy.  This show was nothing but continuous "ah-has" for me. I did look on Emily's website and I do love this nugget that she wrote to women she hopes to help: "Even if you are in presently feeling hopeless, invisible, and like you’ve made horrible mistakes, I assure you that doesn’t have to be your future. A truly Radiant Woman lives deep inside you. When you know how to embody her, you become a magnet for all of your hearts desires.  Now certified to teach the same Spirit Nature wisdom that allowed me to change my life in so spectacularly I will show you the way… back to your light." Y'all.  I'm not crying...you're crying. #ImCrying You can connect with Emily here: http://emilypereira.com/dearmattie/And y'all. HER RETREATS SOUND LEGIT! DMS 138: Adam Cayton-Holland on losing his sister Lydia and writing Tragedy plus Time
Adam Cayton-Holland, one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch,” went from a sensitive kid growing up in Denver, Colorado, to a writer and performer with a burgeoning career as a comic. Adam was always interested in comedy – he and his sister, Lydia, spent their childhoods cracking jokes and running bits off one another. Their close relationship continued as Lydia worked at the door and behind the scenes of Adam’s increasingly popular comedy shows. Yet Lydia struggled with depression, and not even their comedic bond was enough to pull her out of the darkness she felt. Her struggle with mental illness ultimately took her own life, leaving Adam to grapple with the trauma of her death while simultaneously having to focus on his budding career in comedy. Both a moving tribute to a lost sibling and an inspiring meditation on mental illness, grief, and recovery, TRAGEDY PLUS TIME is an unexpectedly funny, incredibly honest love letter to anyone that has ever felt messy or complicated. Adam Cayton-Holland is a national touring comic who has appeared on Conan, @midnight, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, Happy Endings, Deadbeat, Flophouse, Hidden America with Jonah Ray, and was named one of Esquire’s “25 Comics to Watch” and Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch.” Adam co-created, writes, and stars in truTV’s Those Who Can’t.  Adam’s new comedy album, Adam Cayton-Holland Performs His Signature Bits, releases on March 23. He is a Denver native.
