Helen Haines' alleged attacker Brendan Nugent faces court

The man accused of repeatedly ramming independent MP Helen Haines has faced court in Wangaratta. Brendan Nugent did not speak or enter a plea, and court documents show police have also charged him over cannabis cultivation and possession. His lawyer has revealed his client has a neurological condition.  So what happens next, and what does the attack mean for the safety of MPs?
