Let me tell you about Lane. He and his husband John became dads through foster adoption back when there was NO roadmap for out gay men building families this way. Talk about major build-the-plane-while-flying-it vibes! Their daughters came to them as a newborn and a one-year-old, and it took YEARS in the court system before those girls were legally theirs (even though they were theirs in their hearts from day one). Lane has shared his story on NBC, NPR, and so many stages, and he's changing how people think about what family can look like. I asked Lane the questions you all sent in. We talked about the real differences between domestic, international, and foster adoption (this one came from one of my best friends!), why the reunification debate gets so heated online, and what it was like raising two little girls through Prop 8, DOMA, and years of legal limbo.
