First performed in Chicago nightclubs circa 1925 the tune was immortalized after Louis Armstrong's legendary 1926 version with his Hot Five - it is said he dropped the lyrics and went into an impromptu "scat" verse that se the ealry jazz hounds on fire~ here we talk about the tune and offer several versions of it through the pre-1940 years!
