Not Everything Has a Lesson

Description

Share a thought, ask a question 🩵 What if the thing that happened to you doesn’t have a lesson in it? What if it doesn’t mean anything at all? Something hard happens, and almost instantly your mind starts racing to find the lesson, the reason, the meaning. We explore why we reach for meaning so fast (hello, nervous system), the difference between feeling something fully and forcing it to mean something, and then guides you through a simple somatic practice for letting an emotion move without demanding that it explain itself.  Consider this your permission slip to feel it first, and understand it later, if at all. Making meaning too soon can be a form of avoidance. Feeling something fully and forcing it into a lesson are not the same thing. If real meaning comes, it comes later, from a regulated place, not in the thick of it. In the raw moment, your only job is to feel it and stay close to yourself. A practice you can keep: notice where you feel it in your body, place a hand there, tell yourself, "I don't have to make this mean anything," and let it move. Come share with me on Instagram at @Elena_Lipson: what is something you have been trying to make mean something when maybe you just need to feel it first?  No need to have it figured out. You can just let it be witnessed. 🎧 Subscribe to An Intuitive Life wherever you listen to podcasts. 📲 Follow on Instagram: @Elena_Lipson Support the show đź’› Looking for support?
