S2 E53 ADHD Women and the Frustration of Being Consistently Inconsistent
Why can you do something perfectly one day and struggle to do the exact same thing the next? For women with ADHD, inconsistency can feel deeply personal. You know how to do the thing. You’ve done it before. So when you suddenly can’t start, remember, organize, follow through, or access the same skills, it’s easy to wonder what’s wrong with you. In this episode of Angry on the Inside, Jess and Jeannine talk about ADHD inconsistency and the difference between having a skill and being able to access that skill consistently. They dig into fluctuating executive function, motivation, transitions, stress, exhaustion, hormones, and the mental load running in the background—and why the same person doing the same task doesn’t always mean the same result. They also unpack the shame behind being called inconsistent, unreliable, or told you have “so much potential,” and why even ADHD strategies can become another reason to blame yourself when something that worked yesterday doesn’t work today. Because Wednesday doesn’t erase what you could do on Tuesday and Tuesday doesn’t guarantee what your brain will give you on Wednesday.
