Exit, Pursued by Venber (Book 25)

The Animorphs finally arrive at the secret Yeerk base. Marco and Cassie bear witness to something horrific. The kids trainhop their way home.  Why does this book have so many good ideas, and yet seem to have nothing to say in the end? Does Book 25 deliberately echo Book 11? Is Marco/Cassie possibly the Animorphs pairing with the least chemistry? Why couldn't Derek be the new Animorph instead of David? And will any of these plot threads matter in future books?
