Pigskin: Week 5 Recap: Penn St at Northwestern, Washington at USC & Ohio St at Iowa

Bowden is back — and this time he’s joined by his friend Ian, filling in while Korbin is away. In this Week 5 recap, the guys break down Penn State getting dismantled by Northwestern, Washington hanging tough at USC, and Ohio State rolling into Kinnick Stadium to hand the previously undefeated Hawkeyes their first loss. They open with Penn State at Northwestern, where the Nittany Lions — already reeling from a rough showing against Wisconsin — failed to rebound. Northwestern leaned heavily on the ground game and consistently found ways to expose Penn State’s weaknesses. Next up is Washington at USC. USC hasn’t looked sharp this season, coming off a blowout loss to Oregon and now a narrow four‑point win. Washington, meanwhile, finally seems to have a pulse and could be a team worth watching over the next few weeks to see if they can sustain this momentum.Does USC truly pass the eye test as a playoff contender? Then Bowden & Ian dive into Ohio State at Iowa. Iowa’s undefeated season came to an end, and Bowden still isn’t sold on the Hawkeyes’ quarterback situation. Ohio State looked dominant on both sides of the ball, while Iowa’s offense struggled to generate much of anything. What does this loss mean for the Hawkeyes moving forward? A fun, lively recap you won’t want to miss. ENJOY!
