EAT AND RUN: The 400-Pound Alien Who Only Eats Italians?! | Weird ’80s Movie Night

An alien lands in New York City…and decides Italians are delicious. Not Italian FOOD. Italians. Johnny Spoiler is back to audit somebody else’s life for a change, and this week we’re digging up one of the strangest forgotten movies of the ’80s: EAT AND RUN, the 1986 sci-fi horror-comedy about a 400-pound alien named Murray who develops an appetite for the residents of Little Italy. Yes. This movie actually exists. Detective Mickey McSorely is trying to convince everyone that a giant alien is literally eating New Yorkers while Murray gets arrested, wins a court case, gets released on bail, dates a judge, and continues his culinary tour of Little Italy. Somehow, Mickey eventually winds up in more legal trouble than the extraterrestrial cannibal. We get into the movie’s bizarre history, its New World Pictures connection, Ron Silver playing the whole thing surprisingly straight, Pat “R.
