S2. 12 THE TENDER BAR - 10.10.26

Musings into the things we are called to do and the characters that form our experience, guide and influence us. The power of belief in your own dreams and in others to fulfil theirs.  I watched a film called The Tender Bar - picked at random, after a writing day, and it was about a young man who becomes a writer and learns all life’s hardest lessons from his absent father and all his most insightful ones from his Uncle Charlie, who owns The Dickens Bar and ensures his nephew reads, starting with Dickens.  It was a thoughtful film and hit many times for the persistence required to become what you want to become, when the odds are against you but family (not always blood but barstool regulars) support and cheer even the minor wins.  I am a huge fan of Ben Affleck and he was understated and pitch perfect as the guy who never went to college but perennially is the smartest guy in the room.  Musings into this deep emotional ties when you have one person to perpetually want better for you and speak life into your dreams. The  invitation is to know what the source of your purpose in life is and to chase after it, commit even when you have no idea how it’ll pan out.  From corporate lawyer to full time writer, Julia Mathison, in this 14 MIN EP, shares the impact of things appearing before us as signs or triggers to keep going - in this case the movie - THE TENDER BAR - tenderly directed by George Clooney.  You are a writer the minute you say you are and then you have to prove it… at least to yourself.  Always a personal musing, featuring personal preferences, with a desired message to be kind, follow your hearts direction and accept the calling of your innate gifts.  REFERENCES:  MOVIE - THE TENDER BAR - DIRECTOR - George Clooney Based on a memoir by J.R Moehringer Screenplay by William Monaghan  Ben Affleck | Tye Sheridan | Lily Rabe | Christopher Lloyd | Daniel Ranieri |  Support the show THANK YOU FOR LISTENING PURCHASE MY STORIES AT www.jemathison.com
