A swept house can look ready while still being empty. That warning from Jesus makes me think about what I call getting my life straight. Quitting something destructive matters, but I also need to ask what I’m making room for. Paul points me toward Christ, who carries what I couldn’t carry and gives what I couldn’t earn. The psalm remembers a God who feeds his people and keeps his covenant. So faith isn’t just a list of things I’ve stopped doing. It’s a life learning to belong to him: telling the truth, asking forgiveness, showing mercy, and depending on grace. I don’t want a respectable-looking emptiness. I want Christ shaping what happens inside, where nobody else can see.
