Break Points

In Break Points episode 54, the hosts banter about being naked, wearing shoes in the house, audiobooks (Dungeon Crawler Carl), and apps like Splitwise before introducing sponsors fablazings.com, Codex Journals, and AGE.events. They discuss traveling to Calling Atlanta, including Sink Below side events and the LL event, then shift into meta talk and predictions around new and existing heroes, including Jarl, Ascelio, Syndra, Bolton, Levia, Malice, and Viscerae, plus Living Legend format concerns and card power from recent sets. They compare Usurper to Omens, debate whether sets feel underpowered due to assumed LL rotations, and answer listener questions about favorite bad decks, pitch stacking versus threat stacking, and what top eight might look like, with additional jokes about OnlyFans and Coke World.

The episode opens with a digressive chat about Peter Dinklage roles, opinions on Game of Thrones’ final season, and what shows the hosts haven’t watched, then shifts into Flesh and Blood tournament recaps from Calling Kansas City. Taylor and others describe FOMO watching teammates succeed, while Zach recounts a volatile run from 4-0 to a day-two slide that renewed his excitement to play Aurora. Randy reviews a strong weekend and explains why he chose a fatigue-oriented Hala list built around cycling, pitch outlets, and odd tech choices, going undefeated on day one before a rockier day two, plus he describes conceding a match he was losing and later bubbling ninth. The group debates community hostility toward fatigue strategies, discusses LSS’s new skirmish “Best Of” promo distribution changes, and answers listener questions on mastery packs, limited vs CC, broadcast improvements, Riftbound, ranger issues, roadmaps, future set themes, and influencer impact.

The hosts open with banter about ending the show, Dr Pepper Zero vs Diet soda preferences, and cats, then segue into pet loss and thoughts on adopting bonded pairs. They welcome listeners to Break Points episode 51 and discuss Calling Atlanta package sign-up day issues, including an API/voucher redemption failure, refunds, sold-out Living Legend, and the scramble to register for Sink Below sealed deck side events. They praise Fab Foundry’s fast turnaround while criticizing LSS’s short event lead times compared to other card games. The episode includes sponsor reads, a quick data check on Aurora and Malice win rates, and extensive spoiler discussion around Malice, Bridge of Damnation wording, the new Viscera “Usurp” legendary, and concerns about fables and pricing. They also cover Mastery Pack Assassin reactions, local event allocation decreases, decklist transparency ideas, and answer listener questions including favorite games and humorous prompts.

In episode 50 of Break Point, Taylor, Sam, and Zach open with sponsors, then recap recent events: Zach finishes 107th at Pro Tour after struggling in draft and starts testing for Calling Kansas City while also securing a Riftbound regional qualifier ticket; Sam qualifies for day two but drops after a rough draft; Taylor’s Pro Tour trip turns into an ER visit when his wife shatters her ankle. They share Vegas stories about gambling, hotel issues, and dining, then discuss the Pro Tour keynote, new heroes and cards like Viscera and Malice, and meta implications with Mastery Pack Warrior. The conversation shifts to Calling 100 in Atlanta selling out quickly with a 600-player cap, limited and restructured Sink Below promo events, and side-event registration uncertainty. They debate open decklists versus scouting Discords, then cover Talyshar’s new rust counters/ads, revenue concerns in an open-source ecosystem, and potential LSS involvement, before closing with viewer Q&A.

The hosts open by joking about a birthday shirt and team gear, then recap their weeks in Flesh and Blood—Zack vacationed while Taylor practiced for the Pro Tour amid B&R news. They debate the two Oscilio builds (Aurorio vs Spellio), how fatigue and disruption affect them, and why Aurorio is expected to be the most represented at the Pro Tour based on Nationals results. After sponsor reads, they discuss the latest B&R article, praising its improved communication but arguing about design philosophy, the point-multiplier system, and releasing “incomplete” heroes like Ziggy, including criticism of the Blue Somersault unban. They also complain about Oscilio 2 and missing support for older archetypes, touch on teaser videos and lore, answer audience questions (including open decklists), and briefly note Talishar’s ad changes for a future episode.
