Democratic Socialism Is Just Having Rich Parents | Satire Saturday

Text the show! America, congratulations. You’ve been adopted. 🇺🇸💳 I finally figured out democratic socialism—and I owe the DSA an apology. It’s having rich parents. Rent? Dad. College? Dad. Healthcare? Dad. And if Daddy runs out of money, that’s okay. Daddy has a printing press. On this Satire Saturday edition of Common Sense with Chad Law, I take the Democratic Socialists of America’s “Workers Deserve More!” program to the family dinner table. Their vision of life without capitalism sounds awfully familiar: no bills, no debt, plenty of leisure, and somebody else handling the statement. They don’t want to eat the rich. They want to be adopted by them. 🌹 MEET THE FAMILY Zohran Mamdani, Bernie Sanders, and Hasan Piker join tonight’s satirical family portrait: the golden child, Grandpa Bernie, and the cousin who lectures you about capitalism from a very comfortable address. Then we meet the head of the household: Daddy Sam. Same hat. Same beard. Cashmere quarter zip. Black credit card. All you have to say is “human right,” and Daddy opens his wallet. But a father wants you to grow up and move out. A sugar daddy needs you to stay—and eventually, he wants something back. 🏦 DADDY SAM HAS TWO FAMILIES Before Republicans get too comfortable laughing, the country club side of the family has been using the card for years. Bank bailouts. Protected depositors. Corporate allowances. Tonight’s family meeting includes the tote bags AND the boardrooms, because the people demanding free rent aren’t the only ones who expect Washington to catch them. And somewhere in Ohio, a guy driving a forklift would like to know why he’s paying the statement when nobody invited him to dinner.
