Description
The edition that arrived 14 hours before the crime: The double homicide and suicide of Chris Benoit
An edition on Wikipedia published at 00:01 on June 25 mentioned the death of Nancy Benoit. The bodies would not be found until 14:30 that same day. Between that early morning and the discovery, Chris Benoit called his WWE colleagues, booked a flight, and sent text messages with his address. The question remains unanswered: who knew that Nancy was dead before the police arrived?
In this episode, we explore the forensic anomalies that challenge the official timeline: Chris and Nancy's phones were never found, the messages contained an incorrect postal code, and an IP traced to WWE headquarters coincided with the Wikipedia edit. The investigation closed the case as a suicide after accumulating documented severe brain damage, but left unexplained the origin of that information circulating in internal forums hours before the bodies were found.
Victims: Christopher Michael Benoit, Nancy Sullivan Benoit, Daniel Christopher Benoit
Date: June 22-25, 2007
Location: Fayetteville, Georgia, United States
Status: Closed case - investigation with unresolved answers
- Chris and Nancy's phones disappeared from the crime scene, but messages were sent from their devices with an incorrect postal code.
- Chris called WWE to book a flight while the bodies of his wife and son were already in the house, according to the autopsy.
- An IP from Stamford, Connecticut (WWE headquarters) was traced in the Wikipedia edit 14 hours and 29 minutes before the official discovery.
- Matt Greenberg, identified as the author of the edit, stated that he had read rumors on an internal WWE forum whose original source was never investigated or identified.
