The 68 Missing Minutes That Toppled a Precise Life
In this episode, we follow the documents, timestamps, and routines that frame the disappearance of Debra Barrett and the strange evidence that surfaces months later. What does a laminated feeding card and a sixty-eight-minute discrepancy in a work order tell us about where she went?
Person: Debra Barrett
Date: July 11, 2019 (last confirmed sighting)
Location: Four Crescent Mill Road, Sutter Falls, Ohio
Person: Vernon Erickson
Field: Work order showing 9:00-11:00 with billing closed at 10:08 (52 minutes)
- Debra Barrett kept a rigid routine: Thursdays and Sunday mornings driving to the Sutter Falls Animal Shelter with a laminated feeding schedule for seven cats.
- A neighbor last saw Debra back out of her driveway at 7:40 a.m. on July 11, 2019, carrying a tote bag and heading toward the shelter.
- Erickson Comfort Systems had a signed work order for Debra’s address scheduled 9:00-11:00 a.m. on July 11, 2019, and the company held a service key for the library where Debra volunteered.
- Office manager Sandra Cho’s billing system automatically closed the work order at 10:08 a.m., recording fifty-two minutes of labor for that job.
- Twenty months later a canvas tote with a laminated index card listing Debra’s cats, still legible, was found on County Road 9 and sealed into evidence.
