Psalm Chapter 85 - A Psalm for the sons of Korah

Description

Psalm 85: Where Mercy and Truth Kiss The sons of Korah begin by remembering — favor shown, captivity reversed, iniquity forgiven, wrath turned aside. And yet even with all that remembered, they must ask the uncomfortable question of the long middle: "Wilt thou not revive us again?" A forgiven people can still be a tired people. Then, with no warning, one of the most startling images in all of Scripture arrives. Mercy and truth meet each other on the road. Righteousness and peace lean in and kiss. Four things we assume must stand at opposite ends of a negotiation — four things we are always being told to choose between — embrace like old friends who had never really been parted. Truth springs up out of the earth like a green shoot; righteousness leans down from heaven to see it. Perhaps this is what salvation actually looks like, beneath the theology: not a verdict, but a reunion. Not a ledger balanced, but a kiss. 00:00 Thou Hast Been Favourable Unto Thy Land 01:00 Mercy and Truth Are Met Together
