EP#46-The New League Setup Makes Every Friday Feel Like A Playoff Game & DVL SVL Preview with Shad Powers

Send us Fan Mail League play is here, and the desert season instantly gets louder. We’re coming off a Week 7 that had everything: Banning still putting up points like it’s routine, 29 Palms showing the best way to slow an explosive offense, and Desert Christian Academy staying undefeated only after getting a real scare and then flipping the game with a 99-yard kickoff return. We also dig into the Date Bowl result, why Coachella Valley looks different with Ivan Garza back, and which unsung defenders are starting to change games up front. Then we bring in Desert Sun reporter Chad Powers for the fun part: resetting the map now that the DVL and SVL finally start league play. The DVL conversation turns into a true four-team argument, with Banning’s quarterback edge, Desert Hot Springs’ toughness and defense, and Yucca Valley and Coachella Valley peaking at the right time. On the SVL side, we talk through why 29 Palms is creeping into the favorite role, how Desert Mirage can road-grade teams behind that offensive line, and how Indio’s upside depends on getting healthy. We close with a full Week 8 preview and picks, from Shadow Hills at Palm Desert on a short week to the heavyweight slate that includes CV vs DHS, Xavier Prep at Rancho Mirage, and the potential scoreboard-melter Banning vs Yucca Valley. If you’re following Coachella Valley high school football, DVL, SVL, or DEL races, this is your roadmap for the weekend.
