Description
In this July episode of the Transplant International Podcast Antonio Citro is joined by Emilien Seizilles de Mazancourt to discuss three new Transplant International articles. First, a large Finnish cohort study showing that long-term graft survival after HLA-incompatible kidney transplantation remains acceptable despite higher rejection risk. Second, a systematic review challenging the classic “sponge effect” theory of allosensitization after allograft nephrectomy, pointing instead to immunosuppression withdrawal as the main driver. Third, a nationwide German survey of surgical residents revealing strong latent interest in transplant surgery held back by a lack of structured training pathways and operative autonomy – with a proposed two-year fellowship framework as a way forward.
