The Happening w/ Ali Woods

(Note: Apologies for the slight drop in audio quality this week! We had a corrupted file and had to pull the audio directly from the camera.)Comedian Ali Woods joins me to discuss M. Night Shyamalan's 2008 film, The Happening. We break down why the movie shouldn't be taken too seriously, but rather enjoyed as a highly entertaining 90-minute B-movie.We dive into the bizarre casting of Mark Wahlberg as a high school science teacher, the genuinely captivating first half of the film, and the complete absurdity of plants causing people to commit mass suicide. We also discuss Shyamalan's unique career trajectory, viewing him as one of the last auteur directors making pure, unfiltered first drafts without executive meddling.🎧 Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and all podcast platforms🎬 Watch more episodes of Everyone's a Critic: @everyonesacriticpod  ⭐ Support the show on Patreon for:Episodes 24 hours earlyAd FreeBonus ContentExclusive Polls and Updatespatreon.com/everyonesacriticpod Support the show
