Matthew 11 | Woody Burpo

What do you do when God doesn't work the way you expected Him to? In Matthew 11, John the Baptist finds himself in prison and begins to question whether Jesus really is the Messiah. The surprising part isn't that John has questions—the surprising part is how Jesus responds. Jesus doesn't shame John. He doesn't reject him. He answers him with kindness. This chapter reminds us that we can bring our questions to God. We can trust Him when life is difficult. We can repent when He reveals something that needs to change. And, most importantly, we can come to Jesus. Jesus says: "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28 Whether you're tired, discouraged, confused, joyful, burdened, or simply don't know what to do next, the invitation is the same: Come to Jesus.
