Zechariah October 21, 2026 PM.Zechariah’s prophecy opens with a call for the post-exilic Jews to return to God and through a series of visions encourages them to continue working to restore the temple and their worship. Farther into the future, Zechariah reveals that the people of the nations who remain after the catastrophic judgements of that age will come to Jerusalem to worship God as King. This strengthened the exiles who had returned to a city that was in ruins from the Babylonian invasion from 67 years earlier.

Various October 18, 2026 PM.We touched on several topics in our introduction to the New Testament use of the Old Testament. These included the definition of a type, the various Old Testament books that are not mentioned at all in the New Testament, how the New Testament sometimes quotes texts from outside of the Bible, static meaning of the Old Testament text, the difficulty with double fulfillment, the level of contextuality in the NT authors' use of the OT, lexical priming, and a bit about reader-response hermeneutics.

Various October 18, 2026 AM.In part two of how God connected the testaments, we looked at several more types of NT uses of the OT including predictions previewed, theology misapplied, theology properly applied, wording adapted, pattern fulfilled, historical references, and historical analogies. These categories help us to grasp better the interconnected story of the entire Bible. A particular goal of this message is to help you be immersed into the world of the Bible and show how it is worth every effort to mine its truth by digging deeply into it. Saturating your thinking with the Bible will help you to live better for the Lord.

Various October 18, 2026 SS.We examined several passages that use the phrase "in your name" including Luke 10:17 about demons being subject to the name of Christ, Matthew 7:22 about people who claimed to do many wonderful works in the name of Jesus but were not true disciples, and Luke 9:49 about someone not in the immediate circle of disciples casting out demons in Jesus's name.

Various October 13, 2026 PM.In this lesson, we glean wisdom from the book of proverbs on parenting. Parenting is designed to bring joy, not a burden. The joy of parenting is directly connected to the character of a child in Proverbs. As parents, we are to both model godly living and instruct our children to live godly. The responsibility of parenting is made difficult by the fact that children resist submitting to the instruction of parents.
