Fireside Giants - A New York Giants Podcast

Giants Week 6 injury report, live. Abdul Carter (calf), Andrew Thomas (groin) and Jermaine Eluemunor (calf) all did not practice Wednesday, along with Colton Hood (concussion) and Tyler Nubin (neck). The 3-1-1 Giants host the 1-4 Saints on Sunday. Carter has played 92 percent of the defensive snaps with 2 sacks and 6 QB hits since Brian Burns went down, and he has never missed an NFL game. If both starting tackles sit, Marcus Mbow and rookie J.C. Davis are the likely fill-ins in front of Jameis Winston.

Jameis Winston has the New York Giants at 3-1-1 and in first place in the NFC East, five weeks into John Harbaugh's first season and three starts after Jaxson Dart's knee injury. The question for this episode: is it real? The proof. Winston is 2-0-1 as the starter. At Washington he went 33 of 54 for 326 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, and he is the first Giant with back-to-back three-touchdown games since Eli Manning in 2016, per Giants.com. Malik Nabers caught 11 for 121 and the tying touchdown with 1:43 left. Isaiah Likely caught 11 for 94 and two scores. The pass rush finally showed up with five sacks, two from Dru Phillips. The problems. Dominic Zvada went 2 of 5 on field goals, missing from 50, 57 and 46 in overtime. Jayden Daniels ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns, Washington rushed for 202, and the Giants forced zero turnovers while losing two fumbles. Washington had a 42-yard kick lined up to win and never got the snap off. The Eagles and Cowboys are 2-3. The Saints come to MetLife Stadium next at 1-4, then Houston, then the bye. Winston's Giants: win the NFC East, wild card, or fade by Thanksgiving? Vote in the comments.

Marvin Harrison Jr. trade rumors are everywhere, so should the Giants make the call? The No. 4 pick of the 2024 NFL Draft has 5 catches for 85 yards in four games and the league is calling the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have given no indication they want to trade him, per ESPN's Dan Graziano. Adam Schefter says it would not be a surprise if Harrison is moved before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, and the Colts are already making calls. Executives told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler his value is a quality Day 3 pick. The numbers tell the story. Harrison had 885 yards and 8 touchdowns as a rookie, 608 yards in 12 games in 2025, and 13 targets this season while Trey McBride and Michael Wilson have 90 between them, per Pro Football Reference. Behind Malik Nabers, the Giants' next wide receiver is Malachi Fields with 8 catches. Then the mock trade: Kayvon Thibodeaux to Arizona for Marvin Harrison Jr., straight up, no picks. Thibodeaux has zero sacks in 2026 and is a free agent in March on a $14.75 million fifth-year option. Harrison is 24 and under contract through 2027 with a 2028 option, per Spotrac. The cost is real: Brian Burns is on injured reserve and the Giants have three sacks in four games. Straight up, Kayvon Thibodeaux for Marvin Harrison Jr. Who says no, the Giants or the Cardinals? Vote in the comments.

The Giants release Odell Beckham Jr. three games into his return: 20 offensive snaps, one target and zero catches, stuck behind Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney and Malachi Fields. We go through why the reunion never fit and what the roster squeeze says about the week. Then the bigger question. Jaxson Dart is out for the regular season, Jameis Winston is 1-0 as the starter after a 12-7 win over Tennessee, and the Giants just traded a 2027 fifth-round pick for J.J. McCarthy. Winston is completing 51 percent with no touchdown passes in 2026; McCarthy went 6-4 as a starter in Minnesota last year with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. John Harbaugh says Winston starts against Arizona. How long should that last? Drop your pick in the comments: Jameis all season, J.J. right now, or J.J. by midseason?

THIS IS A LIVE STREAM REPLAY FROM THE FIRESIDE GIANTS YOUTUBE CHANNEL. The Giants trade for J.J. McCarthy: the quarterback comes over from the Minnesota Vikings on Monday for a 2027 fifth-round pick, pending a physical, six days after Jaxson Dart's season-ending knee surgery. We react live. McCarthy went 10th overall in 2024, missed his rookie year on injured reserve, then started 10 games in 2025: 6-4, 140 of 243 for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 72.6 passer rating. The Vikings named Kyler Murray their starter in August, and today they moved him for a Day 3 pick. We break down the price, the contract (a fully guaranteed rookie deal with a 2028 fifth-year option the Giants now control), the John Harbaugh connection to Jim Harbaugh's Michigan title team, and the real question: Jameis Winston starts Sunday against Arizona, but with 229 passing yards in two games, how long does that last? Plus where the 2-1 Giants stand with Dart out and Brian Burns awaiting an MRI. Grade the trade in the chat: A, C or F?
