Episode 207 - Waxvillian

Send us Fan Mail Seattle’s own Waxvillain is a true wax collector and music obsessive with an ear for music that is nothing short of unbelievable. A master of the crate-digging game, Waxvillain has an encyclopedic knowledge of obscure records, forgotten gems, rare samples, and sounds that most of us would never even know existed. His compilations are a testament to that obsession, bringing together beautifully strange, soulful, dusty, psychedelic, and downright unexpected pieces of music that deserve to be heard again. More than simply collecting records, Waxvillain has developed a reputation for understanding the history, stories, sounds, and connections buried deep within the grooves. Today we get into the art of collecting, the hunt for the impossible-to-find record, the stories behind his compilations, and what it takes to develop an ear capable of finding music where nobody else is looking.
