Whalefall (2026) • Review • A Father Son Story Hiding Inside a Whale

Join Fraser as he reviews Whalefall (2026), Brian Duffield's survival thriller adapted from Daniel Kraus's novel, following a grieving young man who gets swallowed whole by a sperm whale while diving to find his late father's remains, and finds out whether this creature feature is secretly one of the best father and son stories of the year. This episode contains light spoilers. In this review, Fraser shares why Austin Abrams continues to impress him in back to back nightmare roles, the moment a glowing jellyfish stuffed in a sock becomes the film's most unexpectedly tender relationship, and why the hallucinated conversation between Jay and his father left him sitting in an empty cinema thinking about his own old man.
