Intro Liner: They told her she owed money for a meal she never ordered… They told him his account would be closed if he didn’t pay the ‘restaurant tax’… They never told either of them the truth — and the threats...
Those were scripted to scare seniors into paying.
She thought she was settling a simple mistake.
He thought he was avoiding trouble. Instead, both were pulled into a scheme built on urgency, fear, and a bill that never existed.

Lessons Learned for Senior Audiences
Unsolicited bills are almost always fake — especially for meals or services you didn’t order.
Never pay restaurant charges via cash, wire transfer, or gift cards — legitimate businesses don’t use these methods mirroring the courier‑cash scams.
Urgency is a red flag — scammers use fear (“account closure,” “tax penalties”) to force quick payment.
Verify every bill directly with the restaurant using the number on their official website — never the number in a text or email.
Ask for proof — real bills include your name, date, and itemized charges.
Report suspicious activity immediately to IC3.gov or local police.
