Beholding the King| Episode 5: Called and Sent— Living on Mission With Jesus

"Come talk to me girlie🗣️💖" What does it mean to be called by Jesus—and then sent to represent Him? In this episode, we continue Beholding the King through Luke 9–10 as the disciples move from watching Jesus minister to participating in His mission. Jesus sends His followers out, teaches them dependence and humility, challenges their understanding of greatness, and reminds them that representing Him is about more than simply doing things in His name. Through the Good Samaritan and Martha and Mary, we also see that compassion requires action—and that service can never become a substitute for relationship. Because being called and sent isn’t simply about having something to do. It’s about belonging to Jesus, learning from Him, and allowing His character to shape how we carry what He has entrusted to us. The mission matters. But the One who called us matters most.
