Dog Days - (Episode 1 of 4) - "The last ones up"

A record heat dome seals the city, the power fails for good, and one by one the residents of a nine-story walk-up flee north — until only Dana and Edith, the frail old woman across the hall, are left at the top. Dana tells herself she stays out of decency. But when the elevator dies and she ventures down a pitch-black, superheated stairwell for water, she finds a door propped open where no door should be, footsteps that climb when she climbs — and a radio voice that breaks from its script to admit a terrible truth: no one is coming. The first chapter of a four-part summer descent. Unlock an ad-free podcast experience with Caloroga Media! Get all our shows on any player you love, hassle free!
